HI THERE. These are the rules. Please follow them! We'd like to make this game as drama-free as possible, and that all hangs on everybody getting along. We're all mature adults here, so let's keep as laid-back and fun as we possibly can. GOD-MODDING, METAGAMING, & MARY-SUES. None of this is welcome here. We understand that it happens on accident sometimes, but as a general rule, this will not be tolerated. If you try it, you won't get away with it, and that's that. ACTIVITY. Keeping your characters active is very important in this game, so we ask that you post for them at least once during each four-week activity period. This can be a journal entry, or it can be a post/thread in either PBS. Because of the nature of this game, characters are not allowed to have the same PB as their reincarnates. For example, Han Solo cannot be PB'd by Harrison Ford, but he can be PB'd by Joe Anderson. Other than that, go crazy! Your PB can reflect your character's reincarnate as much as you want, but if you want them to be complete opposites, that's fine too. Just be mindful of the PBs that are already taken, and if you want someone in particular, go here to place a hold. ICONS. On a similar note: We're no longer allowing icons with text to be used in the game. We haven't had that much of a problem with this, but as a whole we've decided that these kind of icons are not appropriate for this sort of game. If you're having trouble finding icons for a certain PB, we suggest checking out the memories at CHARACTERS. All characters from all fandoms and all mediums are welcome here, no matter how popular or obscure. However, you are expected to know as much about your character as possible prior to bringing them into the game. Keep up with their fandom and pay attention to any new developments that directly concern him or her. This is all on you - we can't keep track of this for you! Also, try to avoid making your original character too much like their reincarnate; that's not fun for anyone, and it tends to go into Mary-Sue territory very quickly. You should also be logical about what abilities and talents your character will get from their reincarnate. Don't assume that they're getting everything all at once, and the more room for character development, the better! Our one solid rule about characters is that we don't allow doubles. For instance, since Snow White from Fables is in play, we won't accept an application for the Disney version of that character, or any other versions, no matter how off-the-wall. This is simply to avoid confusion. Barring that, however, you are free to app whomever you choose. Additionally: your character must be older than 13, and keep in mind that any character under the age of 18 cannot participate in anything rated NC-17. Logic, people. It's your friend! APPING & DROPPING. There's no character cap here. As long as you keep active and are honest with yourself about what you can feasibly handle, we're not going to put a numerical limit on alts. Likewise, sometimes ideas that sound great in an application don't work out in actual game play, and we're not going to penalize people for the occasional drop. That said, if you can't stay active and you're constantly cycling through alts, please don't be surprised if the mods approach you about scaling back. Additionally: If you're apping a TV character, you only have to watch one season before you app him or her. Of course, once the character is apped, we encourage you finish watching the show just for your sanity's sake! (The same applies to characters from a series of books or comics as well. Wikipedia is your friend!) HIATUSES. Under special circumstances, we allow players to request a hiatus for up to a month. After that all your characters will be considered inactive and will effectively be dropped by the end of the next AC if there is no activity. Additionally, while on hiatus players are expected to abstain from posting IC until they are officially back in the game and accounted for in the month's AC. JOURNAL ETIQUETTE, OR IC VS. OOC. Characters are not players and vice versa. A snide, rude, or disagreeing comment on a journal is not necessarily a personal attack on you, the player. Keeping IC and OOC separate is pretty much a rule on all games, and this one is no different. Likewise, if you're angry at a player, don't take it IC. In the event of problems, please try to work it out with the other person first. The mods can and will mediate, but often problems can be solved more easily if they're addressed early and between the two people involved. Additionally: We have two other journals for nefarious (since most of our purposes are) purposes, FORMAT. The second part regards formatting. Strikethroughs are not readable to characters; they're a convention to show something that the character thought about saying but didn't, or typed and deleted. Also, journal entries can be set 'private' to particular people, just as IJ allows custom friends filters. Please be specific about who is permitted to see an entry - 'Bob, John, and Billy' is okay, but 'Friends' is vague and can lead to confusion about who qualifies and who doesn't. Postings on the Characters: (Or 'Who.' The characters in the log.) |
